About Notre Dame Children of Mary
Children of Mary is a vibrant student organization at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, IN, dedicated to fostering authentic Catholic culture and traditional spiritual practices among its members. The organization specializes in facilitating access to the Latin Mass in both its Ordinary Form (Novus Ordo) and Extraordinary (Tridentine) Form, offering Saturday morning Mass at 10 a.m. in the Alumni Hall chapel, with special scheduling accommodations during home game days. Sunday mornings feature the Latin Mass in its Traditional Tridentine form at 10 a.m., complete with missals provided for participants and schola accompaniment approximately every other week.
Beyond the celebration of Mass, Children of Mary provides comprehensive opportunities for traditional Catholic devotional practices. The organization coordinates weekly Rosary processions around St. Mary's Lake on Sunday evenings at 8 p.m. following Basilica Vespers, maintains a nightly Grotto Rosary at 11 p.m. during the school year, and offers Sunday Compline services sung according to 1960 rubrics in the Lady Chapel of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Group brunches in South Dining Hall follow both Saturday and Sunday Masses, fostering community connection and fellowship.
Additionally, Children of Mary organizes seasonal and feast day celebrations, including May Crowning ceremonies, mini-retreats, and special liturgical Masses throughout the academic calendar. The organization serves students from the University of Notre Dame, St. Mary's College, and Holy Cross College, creating a unified community committed to deepening their understanding and practice of the Catholic faith through sacred music, the Divine Office, and meaningful social events.
